What is Self Awareness? The False World
We forget that we are born full without lack. The conditioning of our parents lack, societies unrealistic false expectations, religion that is often shaming to a child, school, you name it. All of these things start to go to work pumping into the young child the sense of “I lack”. Therefore we develop the sense of “I am not enough”. This is the false lie.
We then spend our life (unless we step into self actualization and consciousness, seeking outside of self to fill inside). A never ending battle of suffering. This will never work because the only one thing that is stationary in this world is you. If a human seeks long enough for acceptance through others approval, through attainment of money, status, etc, they hopefully will endure enough pain that they are motivated to start the journey. The return back to self. Nothing on the outside can fill the inside.

What Wakes You Up
Pain is the greatest motivator. Nothing gets you to move faster than pain. Some may say it’s unfortunate that this is the catalyst to change. Whatever gets you there is the most important thing. This might be a traumatic event, painful divorce, death of a loved one, etc. It is only when we have run out of all good ideas about what we think we can do to change the situation. We must throw our hands in the air and give up the notion that our thinking that is faulty can “get us out of the dark hole” we buried ourselves in.

You Are Your Thoughts
You are your thoughts. Every single thing you do is a result of a thought. All of those thoughts are based on what you’ve been told by outside of yourself. I would venture to say that not one idea is an original one. Everything you believe in as truth has been shaped by the world around you.
Unless you have undergone the work of truly discovering who you are and peeling back the layers of the ego and sitting with feelings of fear, anxiety, frustrations, depression and all of the other feelings that you ran from or numbed out from then the answer is “no”, you do not know who you are.
Why do we make life so personal to us? We base everything off of the relationship it has to do with yourself. For example, “I had to sit in traffic today, I had to wait for my lunch to be served after an hour, I can’t believe this car cut me off, I am so frustrated it’s been a long day.”
Couldn’t you just as easily make the focus about something else and that would sound something like: “It is all right I can wait in traffic because it’s not personal it just is. “It it is a beautiful day and life is just happening”. My family and loved ones are not attacking me they’re just being who they are. I realize that in their world view they believe they are truly right. Just as I was once very right and not able to see everyone is filtering life differently. They come from a different perspective.
I love the book The Four agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. He states that to take things personal is the most selfish state of being a person can come from. It’s so selfish because it assumes everybody is about you. Your being done wrong by the world, by other people, by your boss, your children, and on and on.

My Own Journey
I speak these words and write these words down because I identified for 20+ years. Those with the idea that they are a victim. A victim of circumstances and situations. That people really were doing me wrong and I owned the counter shop on the “righteous victim role“. The righteous victim is such a gross role because it waits around making people feel that they owe you something. For example, if I perceive my father as not being nice enough to me and being cold or short and abrupt with me the righteous victim would tell him “you’re not a nice person and you’re mean to me”. “You’re not a good father you need to pay me back for all the times you’ve been mean”. “I deserve more and better than how you are treating me.”
I had zero self awareness. If someone had asked me the question, What Is Self Awareness? I would have looked at them like they are crazy.
The truth is that nobody has to treat us any which way. It’s our expectations placed on others that keep us in this cycle. We never take personal responsibility or ownership for ourselves. That’s the false lie that we are fed to believe. We are entitled. People wrong us. We don’t see people are simply doing their very best. Trying to get by and that they are scared and full of fear. Yet we are the ones throwing stones at them.

How Do I Start This Journey
My approach to therapy is very different than most therapists. I do not want to teach you how to cope with life stressors. Why in the world would you want to learn to cope with other people, emotions? Why are we coping when we can change the way we see this world through consciousness and self awareness? Take the individual journey of a life time. Start to see your life transform. Learn what pure self love and acceptance really is. You won’t regret it.
