Stephanie Corchado

I am a licensed Registered Clinical Social Work Intern. I specialize in working with clients experiencing co-occurring mental health illnesses and other stand alone situations you may be facing. You don’t have to be “going through something major” in order to seek therapy. Counseling can benefit us all as it is a way to continually work on developing a deeper understanding and awareness of who we are.

I am passionate about the work I do. It brings me immense joy to see the lights come on in my clients’ eyes when they see for the first time they are no longer identified with the narrative or belief that they are sick or in some way “not OK.”  We are moving away from the stigma that therapy is only for those that have real problems. As a society today we know all too well that everyone can benefit from having someone outside of their blind spots to help us bring into awareness those things that for so long we could not see in ourselves, others and the world around us.

Stephanie Corchado and My Approach to Helping You

I utilize a variety of different techniques and approaches that will be tailored to fit your individual needs. Therapy is a very personal journey and therefore must be treated on an individual basis even in the context of marriage and parenting therapy.

My approach is person and strengths-based. This is a type of positive psychotherapy that seeks to focus on your internal strengths as well as your own resourcefulness. It emphasizes less a person’s weaknesses and shortcomings. This approach seeks to help you create a positive and optimistic mindset and to create the foundation and building blocks that allow you to change your entire perspective and worldview of yourself and others. With this improved mindset you are less hard on yourself and do not set unrealistic expectations on others as well.  You start to loosen up, and find that this world can be a playful and less serious one. You can find true peace and balance.

Other popular and effective modalities I use are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Crisis De-Escalation, Mindfulness and Psycho Education to foster a deeper understanding of yourself. I also offer targeted case management skills to help you achieve your goals during treatment.
