Mindfulness and Living in the Present Moment
Mindfulness and living in the present moment. is about forgetting the past and live in the now. I am not interested in band aide methods of counseling and labeling clients with heavy labels and diagnostic terminology. After 14 years in the counseling services profession I am invested in one thing only: The expansion of unconditional love that you bring to yourself first and then from there your life is transformed in a way you never thought imaginable. Labels need to be set aside while working with me. You can always pick them back up after session. I want to work with you and not the labels that are so easily able to hook us into believing we are these things (Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, Borderline, Codependent, etc.)
Mindfulness Awareness and Spirituality
Over the years I have narrowed down effective and life changing techniques targeting teens, families, couples and individuals as well as those struggling in the field of substance and behavioral addictions. Spirituality is incorporated into my practice and is necessary in understanding how you operate in a dysfunctional mind made, man made society today. Without the spiritual connection from oneself to the universe, God, Spirit, etc,
It is my belief that you will live a life trapped in the artificial dream of this planet that goes against the very true nature and fiber of who we are and always have been. I appreciate the honesty and authenticity that my brave clients bring to the table. I feel honored assisting in the ability to do what so few are ever able to do. Take an honest look at themselves without shame, blame, resentment and see themselves whole and fulfilled. This is the work of true self-actualization. Not for the weak but for the real. I take great pride in the name of my company, High Expectations Counseling. Most who know me understand the play on words along with my last name, High Expectations lead to disappointment.
Mindfulness Reminds Us We Are Spiritual Beings
We become slaves to the past by our choosing. It is only by unwillingness and acceptance that we refuse to let the past remain and define us.
To keep one’s self enslaved to the past is to live in the constant chatter of the mind. The best teacher of our time, Eckart Tolle teaches us not by giving us steps to live in the present but rather by understanding the simple concept of stillness. That gap and space between thoughts. All we have is this present moment. This is very second. We can choose what we wish to fill the space in our mind with. Will it be filled with past thoughts of shame and blame? Playing the tape over and over again like a mouse on a wheel? Will it be filled with the present awareness that we are made up by our present condition? The goal is always to be aware and awake to the Now. The sense of fulfillment and peace we most desire.
