My approach to therapy begins with the acknowledgment that life often feels out of control. I view therapy as the process of working towards self-empowerment, in the midst of an unpredictable world. My passion for counseling stems from my own experience of learning to control what I can, while also being kind to myself as I learned to let go of what I could not. I believe that as we become aware of things that are no longer serving us, we make room for things that will.
I strive to listen intently to your life story, without making assumptions that would hinder my ability to be present in whatever it is you wish to share. This process allows the individuals I work with to acknowledge that they have the power to shape their lives in a manner that supports what they wish to achieve, no matter how many pieces of it seem too difficult to overcome.
I have experience working with both adolescents and adults on a variety of issues, including, but not limited to: anxiety, self-esteem, career counseling, depression, sexual trauma, and spirituality. I am an LGBTQ+ affirmative therapist and have specialized experience working with individuals on concerns surrounding gender and sexuality, as well as how these concerns intersect with religious and/or spiritual values.
I am a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern in the state of Florida. I received my master’s degree (M.Ed.) in mental health counseling, as well as an education specialist degree (Ed.S.) from the University of Florida’s Counselor Education Program. During the completion of my mater’s program I was able to obtain over 1,000 hours of clinical experience via UF Health.
