The Power Of Acceptance Guided Meditation

Meditation and Breath work

You are not your thoughts. Your simply the observer. Meditation is a great tool for separating your true authentic self from your ego. Observing your thoughts with neutrality and letting them pass lovingly breaks down barriers and reprograms negative thinking patterns. It also helps with evaluating belief systems that have been ingrained since childhood.

A meditation practice allows us to step back from the chaos and drama of our daily lives. We are able to process all the stimulus that we are receiving. It can be an amazing form of self-care.  A  tool to bring you closer to your spirituality. Also a practice that relieves you of your anxiety. There are a multitude of reasons why meditation can be beneficial. Also there are a multitude of ways that one can cultivate a meditation practice into their lives. Some examples include visualizations, walking meditations, sound meditation, yoga, breath work, mindfulness, affirmations, etc. There isn’t a “one size fits” all when it comes to meditation.

Through exploring and researching these different forms of meditation I have found a daily practice that best serves my life. Our goal at High Expectations is to help others cultivate a meditation practice that fits into their lives.

Mindfulness and Meditation and Breath work

The past is a memory and the future does not exist yet. All that is tangible is the present moment. So why is it that many of us remain in the past, or dream about the future? We ignore the present moment. We remain in autopilot mode. Before we know it years have passed and we are stuck repeating the same unhappy cycles over and over again.

Mindfulness is a tool that helps anchor us to the present moment. The best way to explain mindfulness: “paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, and without judgment” (Jon Kabbat-Zinn). It is a form of meditation. It urges us to be present and aware in the moment. Mindfulness is a state of being present.  Practice being mindful when brushing your teeth, cooking dinner, or driving to work. This form of meditation is all about intention setting. It is about using your senses to remain completely present in the moment.

Benefits of Breath Work

Our breath is another tool that can be quite powerful and transformative. Prana yama, is a practice that dates back to ancient India.  It is the practice of breath control. Our breath has the power to anchor us in the present moment. There are also amazing benefits for your mind, body, and spirit. Numerous studies have shown the beneficial effects of breath work on clients who suffer from anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
