Fear and Understanding where it comes from
It seems like everywhere we turn somebody or someone is in a state of fear and panic. Movies push it on us, our religion pushes ,society, news, media, religious doctrine, etc. They all portray life as scary and full of nightmares.
But what really is scary? Is it the fact that we don’t know what’s going to happen the next minute or is it because we’re drawing from the past predicting the future and dumping the nightmare into the present moment where all is well?
The past is depression in the future is anxiety. In the present moment right now all is well. There never can be a problem in present moment it is the one space that all is well. The nightmare lives outside of that space.
Fear and the past
The past has absolutely nothing to do with what’s going to happen in the future. How could it? The fact is that we are conditioned as human beings to believe that what happened in the past will automatically happen in the future. We then run the script of a nightmare in our mind and associate it with the present moment. Law of attraction states that what we put our focus on can manifest in front of us.
Go to any playground and take a look at a young child playing. Do you think that their mind is focused on the past or the future? No, they are in the present moment enjoying life fully. Laughing, swinging around without a care in the world. There’s no fear in the world for a child. It’s when the adult conditions a child with statements such as “be careful, you shouldn’t do that, watch your back”, etc. The child quickly becomes nervous of his or her surroundings, anxious and doesn’t even really know why. The parents are the ones that are running with the script of a nightmare not the children.
Fear and how it works
Of course fear is a normal response to any physical or emotional danger that one perceives. A person couldn’t protect themselves from a legitimate threat if they didn’t have the fight or flight response mechanism that all of us are born with. But we believe every situation is life threatening. These are the fears that play out in our mind. Fearfulness is simply not living with life in the hear and now. Your frightened state of being is about what’s going to happen next and is always about things that do not exist.
If you’re suffering with something that doesn’t even exist and is in your mind that’s what we would call insanity. So that would mean that people are living life at different socially acceptable levels of insanity. If you think that you run with the nightmare as a script in your mind then that would make you insane because you’re suffering over something that doesn’t even exist.
You can make all the plans you want for tomorrow but you can’t live in it because you’re here today. Fear is not just a product of our life it’s a product of a hallucinating mind. We suffer the things that do not exist because we are rooted in reality yet we’re rooted in our mind. That mind is constantly eating up on past events and assuming that they will happen again in the future.
How to overcome Fear
If you were to practice mindfulness and present moment awareness you would see that the chatter of the mind would slowly start to die down. You would find moments of rest in the present moment which is now. Once the hallucinations are gone where can the fear be? You won’t imagine something that does not exist you will act and respond to what’s existing right now.
