Depression Therapists Orlando

Depression therapists Orlando and what does a therapist really do to help? Many therapist sadly I admit do very little in the way of helping to assist clients when they come into session seeking help with depression. They may give you some coping skills and refer you to a psychiatrist for medication. My question to you is. “why do you want to learn to cope with depression when you can eliminate it”? Yes eliminate it for good.

I understand that many suffer from several different forms of depression and it does not seem as easy as snapping your fingers and instantly it is gone. It is however possible to do the real work of self awareness, mindfulness and understanding the fear that is running as a current underneath depression.

I agree with most that your first item on the agenda when seeking help is to see you doctor and be clear about how you feel. They can then refer you to a therapists to help you figure out the exact type of depression your suffering from.

The main one that I want to highlight on today is called Situational Depression.

Situational depression is described as a form of depression that is short term. It occurs in the aftermath of traumatic experiences or changes in your day to day life. These may be related to:

  • Divorce
  • Loss of a loved one
  • Retirement
  • Loss of career or job
  • Relocation and moving
  • Separation from partner
  • Birth of a Child
  • Teen on drugs
  • Surviving a natural disaster
  • Trauma

In life we all go through experiences that stretch us to the limits of our abilities to cope and function day to day. Some situations can just overwhelm us like the ones listed above. In addition to the above listed, situational depression usually can occur when you have not yet had the chance to adapt to the sudden changes and these incidents are overwhelming causing significant anxiety and stress.
