Anxiety and Our Belief Systems
Anxiety and our belief systems. How does it really work? It’s really not as hard as you think. Clients that I work with find the courage to make the first call and then from there they are off to the races. If we all can get behind the concept that we are our thoughts, we would understand then that nothing is causing fear and anxiety but what we are telling ourselves. We pull information from our past and predict our future. In doing so we then make it fact and this in return plays out in the present moment.
Anxiety and Our Belief Systems
The Early Stages
From the very first minute you enter the world you start forming your belief system. The only catch is that it is not your belief system. It is all of those who directly influence you. How does this happen? Anxiety and our belief systems lock us into creating who we think we are.
The information passed down to you is from the belief system of your direct caretakers. Family is the number one biggest contributor. If they believe that the world is scary and full of fear and anxiety then it is coming down the pipe directly to you. You will be told and modeled that fear and anxiety is a natural state of being.
I use the analogy that if you are an apple and your parents are apples then all you have ever known is apple world. You have been conditioned to believe that the apple world is all that is out there. In apple world you perceive life to be fearful, anxious, and scary. But there is orange and banana and grape world as well. In these worlds they are filled with different conditioned belief systems. We are a product of our environment.
